I fell in love with Jenny Williamson's quilt from the book "Quilt Africa" by Williamson and Pat Parker. When a granddaughter brought me a piece of fabric (colorful border) from Africa, I knew I had to make the quilt. Some of the colorful fabrics are African, others are Australian.

This quilt was started in a Timna Tarr workshop. It is an original map design depicting the western suburbs of Boston although the location of this quilt show is unfortunately just off the edge. Should have thought of that before I started sewing.

Looking Out the Lighthouse Window, by Sue Colozzi

Art Quilt 25 x 20
Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Fused, Thread sketching, fabric layering

I've created several quilts of Nobska Lighthouse as viewed from the beach in Woods Hole, MA. While taking a tour of the lighthouse interior, I found it interesting to look at the view in reverse. I especially liked the decorative miniature metal lighthouses atop the railings.

Pattern Name: Posh Blossom.
Large Quilt 65 x 65
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

I enjoy making quilts with the "Quick Curve Ruler" from Sew Kind of Wonderful. A pattern that lets me use my bright colors and curves is a winner. It also provided nice spaces to practice my free motion quilting.

A Sip of Grey

A Sip of Grey, by Christina Crouch

Small Quilt 25 x 35
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

This year's challenge was to pick a Tea name and use it as inspiration. I chose "Earl Grey" tea. A monochromatic palate in greys was my challenge. I took parts from an older paper pieced pattern found in "Quilts with Style".

The Main Event

The Main Event, by Laura DiNapoli
Original Design.
Small Quilt 47 x 47
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Burlington Electric Quilters

I had a pack of 10" squares of Tula Pink "Pom Poms and Stipes" fabric sitting in my stash, perfect for a baby quilt for a friend who is adopting a baby. It was a challenge for me to work with such bright and bold fabric. It makes me think of a circus. It's a baby quilt, so I chose the elephant quilting design.

Red Chasuble and Stole

Red Chasuble and Stole, by Susan Dresley

Quilted Object Quilt 24 x 55
Machine Pieced, Fused

In the liturgical calendar red vestments are worn only on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Pentecost. The rector asked me to sew one. After researching how to actually make the chasuble, I bought a plain one, so I could focus on decorating it (the fun part). The design is based on a block from the Gypsy Wife quilt. I used some Grunge fabric.
