Unwrap a New Thread, by Bebe Fallick
Original.
Art Quilt 39 x 60
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, several hand prints
At an artists's enclave in Vancouver BC, the course booklet was titled "Unwrap a New Thread" - so I did! Two Asian handprints were from a former Rising Star member. The circle handprint was done in a DeCordova class. I used square and round clips, antique buttons, woven silk yarn, fabric yoyos and found objects.
I-Heart-QALs, by Angie Fitzreiter
Pattern Name: The Butterfly Quilt by Tula Pink.
Large Quilt 88 x 94
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I was inspired to create this by my own bundle of favorite fabrics, and a post about a SAL with a blogger I follow - Gnome Angel. Despite some hesitation, in the summer of 2017, I decided to join #tulapinkbutterflySAL. I'd say that my second SAL was a success! I used fabric in new ways, loosely following the pattern, and it was fun joining along.
Love to the Moon and Back, by Jeanne Funk-Gedies
Pattern Name: Dresden Plate.
Large Quilt 96 x 96
Machine Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Machine Quilted
I saw the piece as a wall hanging at Keepsake Quilts and thought it would make a nice wedding quilt for Jane and Konstantin. I ordered 2 kits and kept going.
Sisters, by Jeanne Funk-Gedies
Art Quilt 36 x 42
Machine Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Fused
Inspiration came from photos of the Gedies girls when they were little and visiting us in Maine. They are big now but still enjoy red toes.
Fall Sunshine, by Jessica Gillis
Pattern Name: Sunrise Sunset.
Large Quilt 66 x 90
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
My first year back in New England (fall 2013) I did a NH Shop Hop. As a participant, I got this pattern, and at each shop 1/2 yard of fabric to complete this quilt. It took me 2 years to even start it! A week of cutting and 3 retreat weekends later I finally finished the top. This summer I added the border and had time to longarm it. I'm happy it is done, now I just need to find someone who sleeps in a twin size bed...
Summer Cheer, by Jessica Gillis
Small Quilt 29 x 44
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I needed something to dress up my hallway this summer and found this panel from years ago. I decided I could dress it up with side borders and try out making prairie points, something I have always liked but not tried to use yet.
Honeysuckle, by Elizabeth Habich
Original Design.
Art Quilt 41.5 x 36
Machine Quilted, Fused
Honeysuckle against a board fence in Maine, from a photo I took years ago. Knew I wanted to make a quilt from it, but waited until a workshop with Melinda Bula to go forward. Backgrounds are my hand-dyed shibori; solids are a mix of hand-dyes (by me and others) and commercial solids. Check out the thread image on the back!
Eagle Lake, Acadia, by Elizabeth Habich
Third Prize, Art Quilts.
Original.
Art Quilt 14.5 x 17.5
Machine Quilted, Machine Embroidered, thread-painted
Eagle Lake, at Acadia National Park, is one of our happy places. Starting with a photo I took several years ago, I set myself the challenge of capturing as many as possible small details and subtleties. The borders are chosen to capture the mood of the image.

Machine Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Hand Embroidered, Fused, hand beaded

One Fish, Two Fish..., by Karen Kishimoto
Pattern Name: N/A.
Small Quilt 17 x 52
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted
Started at a class by Karen Eckmeier at VQF, 'Wiggles and Collage.' The fish fabric from Kaffe Fassett inspired me, I loved the bright tropical colors.
Splashed, by RoseMary Koch
Pattern Name: Magic Sampler by Lori Smith.
Large Quilt 78 x 84
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Linda Bevins, New Hampshire
I started this in 2008 as a Block of the Month using black and white blocks with a splash of color. I added a column, duplicated blocks, added sashing and changed the original border. Once I get started I always tend to change my mind, deviate from the original pattern and do my own thing. It was finally completed in 2017. It is fun to be creative.
Owen's Quilt, by Lily Kurth, Junior Member Quilt
