This is a kit quilt, fabric and quilt designed by Jinny Beyer. I needed the encouragement of fellow quilters at "Quilting by the Bay", a quilting camp at Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine, to complete it. Lynne Champion put some difficult squares together.

I decided it was a good way use up scraps. Since they were small pieces it was easy to do in the car and on the plane while traveling. There are 6,715 postage stamp pieces in the quilt. What took the most time was the fussy cutting.

The ginkgo leaves were built on batting ahead of time before positioning them on the background fabric. They are partially stitched down to give a dimensional effect.

Made for an exhibit entitled, "Metamorphosis", the quilt design morphs from a SILK WORM to SILK THREADS to SILK TIES to a WALL QUILT.

I loved the jelly roll fabrics so bought the package. I was in a group that was challenged to make a jelly roll quilt, slash it and insert a row of staggered flying geese. Hopefully a companion piece will be ready for the 2019 show.

Once Upon a Noontime Cheery. With Apologies to E. A. Poe. Inspired by a block in "The Raven, An Autumn Quilt of 9 Applique Designs by Blackbird Designs" that was too dreary, I added bright colors & Prism's parrot feathers to create a whimsical block. Each of the applique designs in the book was accompanied by a line from "The Raven."

Instructions were: select six fabrics, cut to predetermined size squares and rectangles. Upon arrival, instructions for the first set of blocks were distributed, when completed, instructions for successive parts of the design were distributed until the entire project was visible. I added inner and outer borders.

This Kaleidoscope Magic Quilt, begun in the Spring of 2017 with a class at the Quilt Connection in Wakefield, was finally finished this July. In March 2009, my husband and I spent three weeks in Hawaii. During this trip, I found several wonderful quilt shops, the best of which was Kapaia Stitchery on the Island of Kauai. The fabric in this quilt is their Signature fabric, not available anywhere else.

It all started with a picture of a red and white quilt by Just Takes 2. I bought their pattern containing 200 pages with instructions for 100 blocks using machine, hand and paper piecing, appliqué, and machine embroidery. It took a while to make but I learned a lot and I enjoyed almost every minute of it.

As long as we had lived in our house I had looked at the blank wall in the entry stairwell and wondered what to do with it. This quilt designed by Terry Alpert was the perfect solution. A lot of paper piecing and many matched points later it found its home on that wall.

This was my first real attempt at making a large quilt. It was designed by Sue Garman as the 2010 BOM for The Quilt Show on the Internet. I purchased the kitted fabric and pieced it -- then it sat for a few years while I gathered the courage to quilt it. I finally just went for it, and while it's not perfect, I do like it.

I've often wondered what Old Silver Beach in Falmouth looks like from the houses up in The Cliffs. I had a chance to take photographs from one of those houses, and this is the (bird's eye!) view I saw.

Looking out towards Snug Harbor in West Falmouth, I was fascinated by the variety of ripples in the water and decided to create them with layers of organza and stitching. The gravel and incoming tidewater offered lots of opportunities to experiment with textures.

This is a scene from a sheep farm nearby. The vision of the sheep's wool, the hay bale and the grass gave so much texture to the scene I wanted to create the image in a quilt. I felted wool from the sheep to add more dimension to the quilt.

This quilt top sat in my UFO pile for a few months (okay, maybe years!) before I decided to quilt it using a long arm rental. Check out the mitered and flanged binding technique. I love how it turned out!

The green and gold butterflies are the focus fabric. When it came time to hand quilt, I decided to insert curved lines, to give the butterflies motion. In contrast, the hand quilting design on the border is straight lines.
