2nd Cousins, by Kendra J. Dowd
First Prize, Challenge Quilts.
Challenge Quilt 16 x 16
Machine Quilted, Fused
While thinking about the Challenge Theme I found myself holding two different spools of thread in my hand. Both were spools (the "same") but shaped so differently - I knew right away that it was the shape that I wanted to highlight, hence the silhouettes. Fusing captured the fine details best.
Succotash, by Susan Dresley
Challenge Quilt 16 x 16
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted, Fused
As an avid gardener, I wanted to create a quilt with two vegetables. Hence succotash: corn and lima beans.

Pair of Pears, by Natalie McClain, Junior Member Quilt
Challenge Quilt 16 x 16
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted, Fused
This quilt was based on the challenge 2 by 2, or pairs of things. I thought it would be funny if it was pairs of pears, so when my grandmother, Kay, found pear fabric we decided on making the joke into a quilt. Made with the help of Paulette Schwartz and Kay McClain.
