I was struck by the delicate color of used tea bags and decided to incorporate them into a quilt. Paired bags, paired fans and paired beads suggested 'Tea for Two'.

I tried to think how I could apply "2 By 2" into a landscape quilt. While working in my garden one morning, the answer became clear. I simply used a 2 foot by 2 foot section and turned it into a quilt!

While thinking about the Challenge Theme I found myself holding two different spools of thread in my hand. Both were spools (the "same") but shaped so differently - I knew right away that it was the shape that I wanted to highlight, hence the silhouettes. Fusing captured the fine details best.

This quilt was based on the challenge 2 by 2, or pairs of things. I thought it would be funny if it was pairs of pears, so when my grandmother, Kay, found pear fabric we decided on making the joke into a quilt. Made with the help of Paulette Schwartz and Kay McClain.
