If The Shoe Fits...

If The Shoe Fits..., by Bebe Fallick

Wall Quilt 36 x 38
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted, Embellished- Paper pieced

This quilt has been a nuisance! Removing dozens of paper pieces, bleed of colors through the white, getting the embellishments to stay put, trying the "Triangle" sleeve-initially I even sewed my label in the wrong corner. Does the sashing look like a hard-to-walk-on sidewalk to you?

Third Prize, Large Quilts.
Based on Quilters' Trails pattern.
Large Quilt 93 x 104
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Georgette Gagne

This quilt is a gift for my Aunt Chris, who is more of a sister to me. Starting from a throw-sized kit, more fabric was added to make a large queen-sized quilt. I modified the borders to create more of a framed effect. The colors remind me of the Florida beaches where I have visited Chris.

Tehila

Tehila , by Atara Halpern
original design.
Wall Quilt 24 x 24
Machine Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Hand Quilted, Machine Quilted, Hand Embroidered

In Shmuel Agnon"s story "Tehila", Tehila is characterized by compassion, intelligence, and beauty. I posed her like the Girl with a Pearl Earring (Johannes Vermeer), because this profile captures perfectly those aspects of her. The border is inspired by antique Islamic book illumination, establishing the setting of Tehila in Jerusalem.

Puzzling Keys

Puzzling Keys, by RoseMary Koch
Pattern Name: Many Patterns.
Large Quilt 90 x 108
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

This quilt was featured in Quilters' Newsletter as "The Puzzler", a BOM project at Fabric Place. It was a fun piece to use my stash of colorful batiks. However, the piano keys were a real challenge. Many times I wanted to scrap them and do a straight border. I am glad I stayed with it.
