Crows in the Morning

Crows in the Morning, by Diana Bailey

Challenge Quilt 8 x 11
Machine Pieced, Hand Quilted

I started with flying geese blocks, piecing with black and white fabrics I've been itching to use. The light geese went well against a black night sky. Then came this complementary quilt - black birds flying in a blue sky with white fluffy clouds.

Alzheimer's donation: I designed this quilt using a polygon technique I learned from Swiss quilt teacher Ursula Kern. Every piece is different and the construction is like English paper-piecing. I love this flexible and portable technique! Each bird has some Kaffe Fassett feathers.
