Lianshula Sunset 2, by Rita Alesi
Wall Quilt 28 x 37
Machine Pieced
I began this wall hanging in Jude Larzelere's strip piecing RSQ workshop. My finished piece reminds me of the beautiful sunsets on the Kwando River in Namibia, Africa.
Purple Rays, by Rita Alesi
Wall Quilt 35 x 39
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I started this quilt in a New York Beauties class led by Missy Shay. Paper piecing is not by favorite thing to do, but with all the points, it made the piecing much easier to do.
I Spy a "C" for Colin, by Janice Bakey
Pattern Name: I Spy.
Large Quilt 60 x 87
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted, Tied
Three grandsons around the same ages. This is the second "I Spy" for a very special, very loved grandson.
Bright Yellow Brick Road, by Rebecca Baturin, Junior Member Quilt
Best machine quilting Prize, Large Quilts.
Pattern Name: Yellow Brick Road.
Large Quilt 56.5 x 72.5
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
This is the third full-size quilt I have created, and I love coming to my Grannys house to quilt. This quilt is bright and fun, and will be a welcome addition to my bedroom décor. I machine quilted this myself at Laurenas Long-Arm Quilting Studio
Nothing Like a Game of Cat and Mouse, by Carolyn Bell
Pattern Name: Hand embroidery with pieced blocks.
Large Quilt 60 x 72
Machine Pieced, Hand Embroidered
This quilt was given to me by my grandmother. My great grandmother embroidered the blocks and my grandmother pieced them together. I loved collecting stuffed cats while growing up, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I received this quilt. It is a keepsake and an inspiration for me to keep quilting. Can you find the mice?
Fish Dance, by Susan Bennett
Pattern Name: Convergence/ Ricky Timm.
Wall Quilt 40 x 36
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Inspired by watching the fish jump in the moonlight on Lake Superior where my husband and I enjoy being during the summer months.
Flowers on a Glass Table, by Susan Bennett
Pattern Name: Varigated Weave.
Wall Quilt 24 x 24
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Fused
Having been a weaver before a quilter, I tired to combine the two arts through Anna Faustino's Woven Quilts.
Stack 'n Whack and Stars, by Kathy Boardman
Pattern Name: Stack' 'N Whack and Stars.
Large Quilt 67 x 86
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Laurena McDermott
Technique for this quilt was learned at a class at North Parish Quilt Guild.
Friendship Star Fiesta, by Peggy Boning
Pattern Name: Friendship Star.
Wall Quilt 43.25 x 48.25
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted with Laurena McDermott
I was so inspired by the September RSQ block-of-the-month that I made two quilts with friendship star blocks (even though I didn't win the raffle). This is the first quilt I tried on a long arm after taking Laurena McDermott's class.
Friendship Starburst, by Peggy Boning
Pattern Name: Friendship Star.
Wall Quilt 38 x 46.75
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted with Laurena McDermott
This quilt, Friendship Starburst, is the more subdued version of its twin, Friendship Star Fiesta. Originally it contained a rainbow of colors. See if you can find a treble clef hidden in the quilting.
Diptych: Playing around with Louisa and Diane, by Judy Botsford
Wall Quilt 72 x 45
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Workshops this winter with both Louisa Smith (Strips 'n Curves) and Diane Hire (Quilter's Playtime) provided an opportunity to experiment in multiple ways with fabrics in the same color range. It seemed fitting to hang them together as a diptych.
Summer II, by Carol Brown
Original Design.
Large Quilt 62 x 62
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted
This is the third quilt I have used with the beach hut and palm trees. I made up that block myself, and could not keep myself from repeating it. It hangs in my living room reminding me of tropical summers I have enjoyed and will enjoy.
Forebodings, by Carol Brown
Original Design.
Wall Quilt 25 x 35
Hand Pieced, Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I realized I had never made a quilt with dark colors and decided to do so in June. In July, when I was half-way through this, I found out I needed an operation. Did I have forebodings?
A Visual Journey from Grief to Hope (series- part 1), by Monique Cerundolo
Original Design.
Large Quilt 81 x 96
Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Machine Embroidered
We all experience the pain of losses and deep emotions that surround them. This series explores the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, despair and acceptance. It is my hope that these pieces be viewed reflectively along with the related poems, as windows to the mystery and sacred in our lives.
A Visual Journey from Grief to Hope (series-part 2), by Monique Cerundolo
Original Design.
Large Quilt 81 x 96
Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Machine Embroidered
In my ministry with hospice I have seen patients and their families find meaning in the midst of suffering. This series is part of my Boston College Masters Synthesis exploring the stages of grief and will serve as an educational and pastoral tool for hospices, bereavement meetings and grief retreats.
Purple Passion, by Bonnie Cohen
Pattern Name: Circlemania.
Wall Quilt 40 x 40
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Inspired by Sylvia Einstein's Circlemania class, I enjoyed using outrageous fabrics with fun colors and large scale prints, together with an Australian fabric. Can you find the bugs? I also learned about cutting the patterns without seam allowances. This is a playful quilt.
Green Rails, by Lauren Cohen, Junior Member Quilt
Best use of color Prize, Wall Quilts.
Pattern Name: Rail Fence.
Wall Quilt 22 x 28
Machine Pieced, Tied
This is the second time I have made a quilt for the show. I like the bright colors and how they fit together. I have fun quilting with my granny. I am nine years old.
Colorful Squares, by Lily Cohen, Junior Member Quilt
Most innovative color combination Prize, Wall Quilts.
Wall Quilt 14 x 10.5
Machine Pieced, Tied
This is my second quilt. I did it myself except Granny helped when it got crooked. The most fun was choosing the fabrics because I picked my four favorite colors. I am in second grade.
Sister with the Full Plate, by Christina Crouch
Pattern Name: Round Robin Quilt.
Large Quilt 60 x 60
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted
I chose a Dresden Plate block for the start of my round robin quilt. My fellow "sisters" made beautiful borders around it. The process really made us push our comfort levels of creativity. I will always treasure this quilt. Thanks Helen, Mary, Barbara and Jan!
