Large Quilt 78 x 78
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Laurena McDermott

When I asked my son to pick out a pattern for a quilt, this is the one he chose from "The World of Amish Quilts". I tried to duplicate the colors as closely as possible. Thanks to the Second Tuesday Quilters for their encouragement as I battled the diamonds!

Wall Quilt 41 x 41
Machine Pieced, Hand Quilted

This quilt was begun during the RSQ show in 2003 as a demo for handquilting (some of you helped in the center - thank you!). I thought I would finish it at my leisure and 5 years later it is done. Feathers take longer than I ever would have imagined! It came from the book Amish Wall Quilts.

Travel Time

Travel Time, by Carolyn McShane

Large Quilt 61 x 80
Hand Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Machine Quilted by Kris Barnes

This quilt was started on a trek to the Midwest adding fabric purchased in each state we drove through. I didn't know where I was going (with the quilt that is). After the apple-core beginning, the roadway just seemed to fit.

Woven Ribbons

Woven Ribbons, by Carol Miller
Pattern Name: Rail Fence.
Large Quilt 82 x 100
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

A gift for my daughter Carrie's first apartment, this quilt was on her bed when dirty water rained through her ceiling, drenching everything. Luckily it is a busy pattern, so it cleaned up well! I loved quilting with the cloud-light wool batting. Carrie's name is quilted in the border at least 4 times.

Blues in the Night

Blues in the Night, by Arline Morrison
Original.
Wall Quilt 28 x 27.5
Hand Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Hand Quilted, Hand Embroidered

The sorrow I felt about 9/11 inspired this piece. The abstract design represents New York City after the destruction. The verticals suggest what the city will be when rebuilt. The lower part of the design represents the debris left at Ground Zero after the disaster.

Mountainside

Mountainside, by Arline Morrison
Third Prize, Wall Quilts.
Original design.
Wall Quilt 29.5 x 41
Hand Pieced, Hand Appliquéd, Hand Quilted, Hand Embroidered

Mountainside was the title given to this abstract landscape when it was finished. I worked on it bit-by-bit, making design decisions as it evolved. When completed, there it was - a mountainside. All my works are one-of-a-kind and are never duplicated.

This is another new quilt for the book I am writing, Rob Pete & Friends, for Quiltsmart in MN. I enjoy using their printed interfacing because you get the look of curves without having to do curved piecing. YEAH! I love curves but hate piecing them.

Noel Joy Love Peace

Noel Joy Love Peace, by Elaine O'Neill

Wall Quilt 40 x 50
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, Hand Embroidered, Machine Quilted by Patti Sawyer

This Christmas quilt was started with a group of ladies in Kingston, who all purchased the same 'kit' of fabrics. Everyone used their fabrics in different places, plus we all added a couple of fabrics. It is interesting to see how we all used the same fabrics and pattern and have very different but very similar quilts.
