Crazy Table Runner, by Penny Sander
Wall Quilt 13 x 42
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I began this project in the RSQ Mini-workshop with Jeanne Funk-Geddes, a wonderful teacher. I had a hard time sewing all the shapes into one large piece, so I settled on making 4 squares. The piece was quilted upside-down--the fancy thread was in my bobbin.
"Fraternal Twins 1", by Missy Shay
Wall Quilt 16.5 x 17.5
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
This is one of a pair of pansy quilts started in Ruth McDowells' class in March, 2006 and completed this summer. I wanted to try both the straight line (FT 1) and curved line (FT 2) techniques that Ruth teaches using the same flower, and similar fabrics.
Ripples In The Pond, by Stephanie Shore
Wall Quilt 52 x 52
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Sometimes, the small changes we make can have big ripple effects on our own lives and those of others.
Mutual Benefit, by Nancy Soyring
Pattern Name: Ohio star.
Large Quilt 66 x 82
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Using donated material from the RSQ benefit quilts table, I set out to make a twin sized quilt. Along the way I got inspired and learned many new quiltmaking techniques. I hope my unknown friend at the Germaine Lawrence School gets as much enjoyment from this as I have.
Priscilla's Quilt, by Peter Stringham
2nd Prize, Large Quilts.
Pattern Name: Peace Quilt by Margaret Rolfe.
Large Quilt 70 x 62
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Marita Hartshorn
I made each of the 98 cranes from a different fabric to honor my mother who died this year at age ninety. She taught me to sew when I was ten. Priscilla loved to make origami cranes for her family and friends, so this pattern reminded me of her.
Crazy Rainbow, by Abigail Sweeney, Junior Member
Wall Quilt 20 x 24
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
I designed this quilt from Grandma's scrap box. She sewed the pieces together for me, I did the quilting, and she did the binding.
Sunshine, by Bethany Viens
Large Quilt 53.5 x 68.5
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Laurena McDermott
I made this in a mystery quilt class led by Kathleen Mullendore in the middle of winter. I used bright and cheery colors to overcome the dull winter days.
Opus #1, by Lynn Vogt
Pattern Name: Split Nine Patch.
Large Quilt 64 x 64
Machine Pieced, Free Motion Machine Quilted (without marking)
This is one of my first quilt tops from a class I took with Monique Thompson at the Cambridge Quilt Shop. I loved the top so much I didn't want to quilt it until I had had enough practice with my free motion quilting. So.... 4 years later!
What Goes Around Comes Back...Even Better, by Nancy Wasserman
Wall Quilt 42 x 54
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted
Round Robin quilt from our Bee group. Original strip is the Greek key using two green fabrics. And to my fellow WAQer's - what orange?
Shirt Stories, by Lisa Welter
Pattern Name: Economy Patch.
Large Quilt 67.5 x 88
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Sarah Wright
This quilt was a graduation gift for my oldest son Nick. Chosing the memories together to put into the quilt was the best part of the project. Nick is an Economics/History major at Wheaton College...he continues to play soccer and his cello there.
Playing with paint, by Gail Willett
original.
Wall Quilt 17 x 23
Machine Pieced, Hand Quilted, Painted
I wanted to play with Shiva Paintsticks. I love the colors and the designs. This was a challenge using all white fabric!
Island Hopping, by Martha Wishart
Pattern Name: Bowtie.
Large Quilt 80 x 100
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Concessa Shearer
This quilt was made to commemorate the year in which some family members travelled to both Bermuda and Hawaii. I wanted it to evoke sunlight on tropical waters.
How Many More Do I Have To Kiss?, by Danika Wuehler
Pattern Name: Stars & Bars.
Large Quilt 84 x 88
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Debbie Lee
Inspired by Marjie Gorman's quilt of the same name displayed at the 2003 show. Being a single girl, it really spoke to me and I had to create one of my own. I collected so many fabrics I ended up making mine reversible. This was finished just days before I married my own frog prince in October 2006.
